When I was producing music for the past year and a half, I would often make a mental checklist of styles I’ve tried and then I would go on to try something different. (On) this one, I just wanted to take a super bouncy hip-hop track and go to town on it with vocal samples. I love playing this song live!
85% of a song is easy to write, at least that is the case when you start writing the song. It is the last 15% that is hard. You need to finish the track and polish the track. It takes a considerable amount of man hours to work this out and I needed these hours because I want the album to warrant multiple listens. I don’t want people to listen to the song just once either. This process is more or less something I really wanted to do on my own. Still, I looked at albums by Justice and Daft Punk, especially Alive 2007, they’re amazing albums! These guys can take those songs today and add things to them and just drop them live!
